Bridal beauty…

I love Bridal, truly.

For me it’s not about extreme amounts of makeup, it’s about making the most of the bride’s beautiful features and leaving her comfortable and happy to glow all day.

I’m often asked questions about products from brides in the trial and advice for the build up to the wedding, how to keep your skin clear etc.

One bride came to me at the start of the year and I recently did her hair and makeup for her day, she suffers from a skin condition called Rosacea- it can vary in degrees of severity and can cause flushing, redness, sensitivity to foods products and cosmetics, sometimes small pustules form on the skin.

The following is some advice to her I gave:

For skin preparation for your big day, the following advice would be ideal to go by in the 2-3 weeks leading up to the big day, you may already know most of this but it might help:
1) keep up a good skin routine of cleansing, moisturising and very gentle exfoliation (every 3 days or so). -try to avoid harsh exfoliants that are gritty in texture.
2) avoid simple/ refined sugars, try to only have fruit for sugar fixes.
3) caffeine and alcohol are triggers so try to keep these out of your system for the 3 days leading up to your wedding. (Hen do in advance!)
4) no spicy food the day before! This can trigger heat flushes so best to avoid.
5) take a look at the ingredients in the makeup/ skin care products you use and remove any ones that are oil based rather than water based (oil can be a pore blocker, plus it’s quite heavy- water based moisturisers will be more soothing and hydrating).
6) the most difficult one: try to keep the lead up as stress free as possible!
7) wash any makeup brushes in either baby shampoo or another gentle cleaner before the day so they are clean and germ free.
8) product wise, you might have already looked but the best ones will be ideally organic, paraben free, fragrance free (this is key), mineral, natural and as artificial chemical free as possible.
